Why does it seem that all battery powered Halloween decorations, the battery case has to be closed by screws?

Posted in: Halloween Decorations |

They can't just make the battery compartment with a normal slide/snap in/whatever cover can they. Have enough of these decorations to put out/put away, it gets annoying.

I noticed this too. I don't know for certain, but I would assume it's because those battery powered Halloween items are often used by very young children while Trick or Treating or celebrating Halloween. I'm sure it protects the companies from lawsuits by ensuring that kids can't access that battery compartment.

If you're sure that no children will be using the decorations you're putting up, you could leave the screw out and just put a piece of scotch tape over the battery compartment (depending on whether or not the compartment can be fully closed without the screw).

What are some fun fall/halloween decorations?

What would be some fun things to decorate the house/rooms with. for fall/halloween.
What are some quick, fun, ideas for fall/halloween to decorate rooms with?

I love cornstalks - they are cheap and have a big impact - particularly on a front porch - we've also bought a bale of hay and placed pumpkins on it and people loved it.

Halloween decorations at work making me sick?

Posted in: Halloween Decorations |

My co-worker brought old halloween decorations out of his basement and they are moldy/mildewing and smell really, really bad. They are making my nose burn, eyes red, head ache, and it's difficult to breathe. Other people in the office noticed the bad smell and at least one other person is getting sick from it. What should I do!!?
The entire department is decorated with his crap, not just his cube, because there is a contest at our work. A few people came into work early this morning to do it. Most people don't seem to mind, but I have asthma and alergies. I'm afraid that if I complain that I will be viewed as a huge party pooper. I very rarely call in sick, but I'm thinking about it.

ask him/ her politley to remove them cause they smell bad or are causing people to get allergies. or you can even offer to help clean them. you can also try spraying air freshners

What are some easy and cheap Halloween OUTDOOR decorations for a kids party?

Posted in: Halloween Decorations |

I'm looking to decorate my back yard for a kids (2 year old) Halloween party. I don't have many trees in the middle of the yard so I can't really hang things. I have a few signs I am going to post, three tables with Halloween tablecloths and pumpkins and gords (sp?) as decorations but don't know what else to do. I don't want anything scary. Would scarecrows be alright or is that not really Halloweeny?

Also, do you think I need to decorate everyroom? I decorated the dining room with a Hallween table cloth and a few things hanging from the chandelier and decorated the family room with streamers and a centerpiece. But, I don't really plan on decorating the playroom except maybe a few things hanging from the ceiling. Is it necessary to decorate the kitchen?

Thanks!

i didnt have time to read the entire question, sorry. ):

but for the outdoors, the big pumpkin bags filled with leaves are awesome. :]

I want to make some SIMPLE and inexpensive halloween decorations that will last from year to year..?
I am young and just married and really can't afford any new Halloween decorations. I already have a few, but I'm really interested in making our house festive for Halloween. Nothing too elaborate, but any simple and cheap ideas for decorations that will LAST a few years??

We are not having a Haunted House or a party or anything, I just want to decorate the house. My husband and I both love Holidays and want our house to be in the "Halloween Spirit"-pun intended!

Check a couple of these site out. They look spooktacular!

what are the best decorations to use when decorating my house for halloween?

Posted in: Halloween Decorations |

I need to know what is the scariest halloween decoration you have seen. what decoration looks the scariest and best for decorating the house for halloween.

I do a Halloween party every year and decorate it very fun and festive! I loved it when we hung a scream costume on the wall. Try things that you wouldn't expect to be there. such as arms and legs randomly placed in the ground, or a witch dropping down out of a tree when you step on a lever or something.

Where can I find cheap halloween decorations? What kind of Halloween food could I make for a party?

Posted in: Halloween Decorations |

Does anyone have any ideas of what kind of halloween-party food/ treats I could make? Also, does anyone know any websites that have any good ideas for a halloween party? And what are some good decorations I could buy from?

Any-ideas would be great!! :]

Crepe Paper - Orange and Black is cheap and festive. Twirl it and stream it from the corners to the center of the room. Hang it in doorways! Also - balloons - orange and black - are pretty cheap if you just blow them up and hang them around (as opposed to helium).

Apple cider is a lovely thing to serve. And you know - pizza is easy and quick. Cupcakes are inexpensive - and fun to decorate. There are lots of halloween party foods - like you can make - like - ghoulash and put it in an old sink - and it looks like vomit (very gross). I also saw this page for edible kitty litter -

http://www.goblinville.com/pages/recipes/kitty-litter-cake.htm

Very very gross!

Also - this page looks good for party ideas:

Our children's elementary school needs Halloween decorations. How can we get some free?

Posted in: Halloween Decorations |

The Halloween party is being hosted by the PTA, we have a very limited budget. There are 700 children in the school. We asked for volumteers and only 6 of us, all parents, signed up to do the event. We expected more parents to help… So we have 2 problems… volunteers and decorations….

What do you think we should do?

I work at a Jr. high; I have found that sometimes volunteering is too much of a commitment for parents. But, sending fliers home of your wish list, asking parents to try and pick up 1 item works well. It doesn't make anyone feel obligated. During certain holidays I have even made phone calls to local grocery stores to see if they wanted to donate things; you would be surprised at how giving people can be. Good luck :)
